A Laptop is an amazing piece of innovation. Efficient,
elegant, and compact, it’s a big desktop in a small frame. It is the Tyrion
Lannister of the computer world and needs to have a long life.
It’s a significant piece of investment for us, because,
unlike desktop PCs, the spare parts of a laptop are not easily replaceable
because they are compactly assembled in a laptop chassis. This makes it even
more valuable than other devices.
So here are a few tips to keep your laptop long lasting.
Never Overcharge your laptop battery
Technically, newer laptop models don't allow overcharging
because they use lithium ion batteries. But the circuits inside the laptop that
protect these batteries from overcharging can malfunction and may result in
heating up the battery or damaging it. So whether you have a laptop with
lithium batteries or not, you must remove the power supply with your laptop is
fully or 90% charged.
Clean the Exhaust Vents of your Laptop
Mostly we hear from our laptop dealers that we shouldn’t
open our laptops in any case, but in order to clean the vents, you may have to
open it for a while. Over the course of time, dust accumulates inside your
laptop which can hamper the cooling or the processors. This can also result in
system lags and hangs as well. So, learn how to clean these cooling vents, and
clean them every once in a while.
Don’t use Adapters that is not made by the Original Manufacturer
Battery adapters made by original manufacturers has to go
through strict quality inspections to ensure the power supplied doesn’t harm
the laptop in any way. Power supplies that are not made by the original
manufacturers may not have undergone quality inspections and could supply power
that can harm your laptop. If somehow you don’t have a power adapter in working
conditions, you need to buy an original or high-quality charger from reliable adapter supplier and ensure they
have the volt and mAh specs according to your laptop specifications.
Use the Middle Part of your Laptop Screen to Adjust the Screen Angle
Laptop screens are thin, light, and not strong. Laptops are
made to be lighter to carry, and its frame is made from composite polymer
rather than metal. Most people I have encountered adjust their laptop screens
by holding the corners of their laptop which is wrong. Since you’re not pulling
the other corner, it could bend the laptop screen and ultimately damage it.
What you should do is to hold the laptop screen in the middle when you’re
adjusting the screen.
Don’t Keep Heavy Object on the Laptop
Again, a laptop is a delicate machinery. It’s not a hard
surface on which you can keep other heavy objects. Putting the load on the
wrong part of a laptop may damage the surface. So keep away from doing this.
Utilize a Cooling Pad
The cooler the laptop is, the better. Heat is basically bad
for laptops and can degrade the chips inside the board over time. Your laptop
will not be able to function at its optimum. Having a cooling pad will ensure
your laptop, and all its internal parts are cool. A cooling pad transfers the
heat efficiently outside from within the laptop.
Don’t Accidentally Cover the Exhaust Vents while using the Laptop
Laptop vents keep the laptop’s processor cool. It throws out
heat that comes from the processors. If you block these vents, the processors
may overheat, and the system may turn off abruptly. Always make sure the vents
are not blocked whenever you’re using the laptop on your lap or other tight
surfaces.
